Volunteer
You don’t need to be certified as a dive buddy to help.
Everyone is welcome to pitch in before they have their SDI Scubility Dive Buddy certification — that can mean helping topside on the boat, or assisting in the pool at a Discover Scuba Experience (DSE). To be hands-on in the water with an adaptive diver, SDI Scubility training is required.
About the SDI Scubility Dive Buddy course
- The course has prerequisites (CPR/first aid + Rescue Diver cert, or Advanced Diver with 40 logged dives), but you can still take the class even if you don’t currently meet them
- Includes a classroom session, a pool session, and a boat dive
- Cost: $300
- After certifying, volunteers join our GDW WhatsApp community to stay in the loop on events, dives, and volunteer opportunities
- Any time a certified buddy is volunteering, their diving is paid for by Grateful Divers Worldwide
